The five reasons why people don’t buy from you

If you re like me you believe in what you have to offer. You believe in how you can help improve the lives of others. Many years ago, I listened to a tape on selling by the great motivational speaker Zig Ziglar. On the tape he said that there were only five reasons why people don’t buy from you. They were No Want, No Need, No Money, No Hurry and No Trust. If you have a passion for what you do, have a product or service that can really help others, but the new clients, customers and sales aren’t coming, you need to ask yourself which of these five reasons could be the problem.

If your marketing efforts have done their job properly, you can effectively eliminate all five of these reasons. One of the primary problems I see in the marketing efforts of people in New Age related businesses is that you don’t tell your potential clients and customers how you can benefit them.

In this article and in our newsletters my main focus is (and always will be) on helping you learn to show others the value in what you do.

If you are an Astrologer, you don’t do astrology.

If you are a Reiki practitioner you don’t do Reiki. You help people to do What?

If you are an Author, you’re not just an author you help people by doing what?

I could give you my answers to these questions but that wouldn’t help you. Your answers to these questions have to come from within. Astrology, Reiki, writing books etc.are only the vehicles through which we help others they are not the benefits to our potential clients or customers.

The other day while visiting with the president of one of the local banks in the city where we live, I asked him what his competitive advantages over the “other” banks in town were. He said ” I’m not sure that we have any.” If I answered that question in that way I wouldn’t be in business very long.You simply must know how you improve the lives of other people by doing what you do or you are in trouble.

When you effectively demonstrate how you can help someone, they then trust you and somehow want and need what you have to offer and have the money to pay for it. It’s amazing how that works.
